FORUM DISCUSSION BOARD SCRIPTS
Also check out the Perl discussion boards at Hot Scripts, although a PHP board might be a better choice:

http://www.hotscripts.com/category/scripts/cgi-perl/scripts-programs/discussion-boards/

Here's the link to the PHP board scripts:

I never got a bum script from Hot Scripts, and I've used a fair number of them.

Forumatic™ provides all the tools you need to run a community with none of the usual hassles. No need to manage the hardware, install the software or keep everything update.

There are other, more up to date, discussion forum software that would probably be better for whatever project you have in mind.

Most of these will be written in PHP, but there are some perl discussion forum programs still around.

Here are a few places to look:

Bill Myers, my favorite production guy, recommends this gear for shooting indoor video.

The simplest equipment would be:

1. Tripod

2. HD video camera with external microphone port (ie Canon HF R400 for $127)

3. Wired lavalier microphone - Audio-Technica ATR-3350 Lavalier Omnidirectional Condenser Microphone - $19.95

4. Video lights - Fancierstudio 3000 Watt Digital Video Continuous Softbox Lighting Kit 9026S3 Fancierstudio

5. Table to display toys and a backdrop behind table - for backdrop, visit a used office furniture store and get a used Standard Modular Fabric Panel

You will probably need to edit the videos a bit unless you can shoot the entire thing without making any mistakes. Usually, you'll want to edit out coughs, misspoken words, interruptions, etc.

If using Windows, you could easily do it with Sony Movie Studio

HOW TO DEAL WITH NSF FROM A PAYING CUSTOMER

TO: __________

SUBJECT: DEMAND FOR PAYMENT - INSUFFICIENT FUNDS CHECK

DATE: _________

The electronic check that you submitted in payment of (invoice #) for the purchase of (description) has been rejected by your bank for insufficient funds. You must respond to this communication to make arrangement for payment of this demand by no later than 5:00 PM CST on ______.

Failure to do so WILL result in the following actions being taken immediately on _____ (the following day):

1. A CIVIL COMPLAINT will be filed with (the payment gateway). This will likely result in a suspension of your account until the matter is resolved, or perhaps permanently.

2. A CRIMINAL COMPLAINT will be filed with the office of your local District Attorney, which may result in a warrant being issued for your arrest. IT IS A CRIME in every jurisdiction of the United States to utter insufficient funds checks, whether paper or electronic.

I will be expecting to receive a telephone call from you at the number listed below by no later than 5 PM on _____.

----------

The email does serve one essential purpose, which is fulfilling the requirement for a formal demand for payment and demonstration of an attempt to collect the money. The laws in many jurisdictions require you to show that you've tried to collect the money before charges can be filed.
DRIVE NEW CARS BETWEEN DEALERS
This reminds me of another source of income if you have the time, driving record and inclination to drive new cars on dealer trades.

If you approach the new car dealership Sales Manager with an offer to drive and s/he is interested, expect a background check including credit score and driving record. The pay is based either on miles driven @50¢+/- per mile or hours driven @$10-$20+/- per hour plus food and lodging if an overnight is involved.

You'll be taking a new car somewhere usually within a 250 radius of your home and returning with another new car.

They usually hire retirement age drivers with time to spare and of course clean driving records. The downside is that it sometimes involves late nights and hours of time so most take books on tape or some form of entertainment except texting.

The best opportunity is with a chain dealer group with multiple franchises. Be absolutely certain to get a contract and copy of their insurance policy before setting out. It's not unheard of for some dealers to change the pay agreement post delivery with no contract. Insurance is also important for obvious reasons.

An awkward aside is a story told to me by a Toyota dealer consulting client who sent two drivers in new cars to swap with another dealer. The drivers, a husband and wife team, crashed into EACH OTHER on the way. No injuries, and it's become legendary in dealer circles. No word on whether they're still married.

. . . .

DHI Transport hauls cars across the country and have been in the business for enough years to know what they're doing. They're based in Florida, but drive to the West Coast and back. Very dependable. I can vouch for them. 813-777-8669. Ask for Dan.
